2026 Tournament Registration Procedures

Please review the tournament registration information below. Items with an asterisk * are new or modified for 2026.

  1. *MemberSports: You must create a MemberSports account to play in our tournaments. There is no charge to create the account, which you can do via the City of Lakewood golf website (www.golflakewood.com).  MemberSports is a golf management program that has been adopted by the Denver, Foothills, and Lakewood districts to manage tee times. Whether for HMGC or personal play, you will need a MemberSports account to book tee times in any of those districts.

  2. Tournament Formats: We will play many tournament formats throughout the year. Most events will use a flighted net score format. Our three Club Championships will have both low gross and low net formats.

  3. *Tournament Registration: Tournaments will be open for registration three weeks ahead of the event. You can cancel without penalty any time over the first two weeks that registration is open. Registration closes one week before the event. Cancelations within that final week could be subject to penalty. Please review this registration video on how to register for tournaments.

  4. *Tournament Fees: Most tournaments will have a $25 entry fee. This includes $15 for low-net flighted play, $5 for Closest to the Pin (CTPs), and $5 for net skins. CTPs and skins are not optional as they have been in past years (very few players opted out).

  5. Green and Cart Fees: You will pay these at the pro shop for all tournaments except at our three shotgun start events. For the shotgun start events, you will pay green and cart fees at the time you register for the tournament.

  6. *HMGC Payments: You can pay by credit card or by using funds in your account. Credit cards will have a processing fee (our cost to use Stripe for their credit card services). To put funds in your account to pay for tournaments, you will need to Zelle your funds to us before you will be able to register for a tourney. Don’t forget to “check out” to complete signing in. You will get an email confirming your registration for the event.

  7. Flights: We will flight most tournaments based on your GHIN handicap on the day the event registration closes. The number of flights depends on the format and the number of players/teams. Larger events may have four flights and smaller team events may only have two.

  8. Tee Boxes: Generally, the A flight will play from the black tees, and the B flight will play from the blues. The C flight will play from the blues when there are four flights and from the silvers when there are three. The D flight will play from the silvers. If you have physical restrictions that may exclude hitting from some tee boxes, let us know.

  9. *Tee Sheets: Tee sheets with your tee time and tee color will be emailed about five days before the event. You will also find your individual scorecard in the tee sheet email.

  10.  *Cancelations:  You can change your event status on the website up until the tournament registration closes. After that you will need to reach out to the Tournament Director (indicated on your tee sheet email), Kendall Jones or Jeff Downes. You can find their contact info under the “Member Lookup” tab. Do not call the Pro Shop if you need to cancel.

  11. *Cancelation Fees: Your tournament (and cart/green fees for shotguns) fees will be refunded if you cancel more than three days before an event. You will also get refunds if we can fill your slot with another player.  The Board can make exceptions for emergency situations. The course has a new policy this year. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before your tee time, you may get charged $50. Do not call the Pro Shop if you have to cancel.

  12. *Course Handicaps: Our new software will allow us to track each player Course Handicap which is based only on your tournament play with HMGC. We use the same method as used by the World Handicap system. The club may use this data in the future to make our events more competitive.

  13. HMGC Hole Handicaps: Each year HMGC looks back three years to see which holes play the hardest. You will find 2026s hole HCs on the website.  We will post a PDF of a generic scorecard on the website that you can download for your Match Play events.

  14. *Checking In: We will not have a formal check in process this year. Just pay your Pro Shop fees and one player in each foursome will need to pick up the foursome’s scorecard from the starter. Each event will have a Tournament Director. He will be around to work through any issues until the last tee time. If someone in your group does not show up, please let the TD know. Check your tee sheet email for his name and contact info.

  15. *Scorecards: Your individual scorecard will be emailed to you the day before the tournament. Please print this out if you want to keep your individual score during the round (highly recommended).  We will provide each foursome with scorecard listing all four players which can be picked up at the Starter. Please record GROSS SCORES only! One player in each group will need to keep all four players scores on the printed scorecard. One other player in each group will need to keep everyone’s score electronically on the website. Go to “Tournaments/Schedule” and find the event. This is very easy and instructions can be found on this You Tube video.

  16. *Attesting Scorecards: After each round, each player must attest his score electronically. The foursome should meet after the round and compare the electronic scores with your individual and foursome scorecards. Work out any discrepancies and make sure the electronic version is correct. Once you are satisfied, go to the website and attest your score. Instructions can be found in the You Tube video on scorecards listed above. You cannot change your score once it is attested (it’s a DQ if you submit an incorrect scorecard). We will have a kiosk at the 19th hole in case you are having phone issues or need some help.

  17. *Leaderboard: New this year, you can check out the leaderboard anytime during a round on the website. Just find the event under “Tournaments/Schedule”. It will also show the amount of the payouts if the standings hold. We will also have a leaderboard displayed at the kiosk at the 19th hole so you can watch the results come in over a beverage of choice.

  18. *Tournament Results: Once all scores are attested, the tournament results and payouts are final. You will be able to see these on the website (whether at the course or at home) shortly after the last group finishes. We will also email the results to the entire club. HMGC will post all scores into GHIN for all events where players play their own ball throughout the event.

  19. *Pace of Play: We will be implementing a new method to track our pace of play this year. As a club, each foursome needs to be keeping up with the public’s pace of play ahead of us. Someone in each foursome will need to go to the website and click the Scan Location QR Code button on the first tee before you tee off, and at the 9th and 18th greens after you all putt out. This allows us to track our performance and study the need to implement any changes. Please watch this You Tube video on how to track your pace of play. Disregard the part of the video that mentions penalties for slow play. We are not implementing any pace of play penalties at this time. We are just collecting data.

  20. *Low Gross and Net Payouts: Payouts for first, second and third, etc. low gross (Championships only) and low net places will be placed into Pro Shop credits to be used for merchandise only. You can find your winnings under the “Hello/My Pro Shop Credits” on our website or go into the Pro Shop and ask how much you have in credits in your MemberSports account. You must have a MembersSports account to receive these payouts.

  21. *Skins, CTPs and Hole in One Payouts: These payouts will be made in cash and will be posted in your account in our website. You will see these posted in the “My Transactions” tab on the website. In team events, your guest’s winnings will also be posted to your Account. It’s up to you to get them their winnings.

  22. *Cashing Out Your Winnings: If at any time you want to cash out any funds in your account, just use the Player Lookup function to contact Mike Brevig and make the request. Zelle transfers are preferred, but they can also be made by check.
